If most of your visitors are in Nepal, where your server sits matters. A server in Europe or the US is cheap and powerful, but every request has to travel a long way. A server in Kathmandu is close, but usually costs more for the same resources. An India VPS sits in between: close to Nepal on the network, with modern hardware and prices that stay reasonable.
Why India is a good location for Nepali users
Most of Nepal's international internet traffic is routed through India. A server in India is therefore only a short hop away for most Nepali internet users, and pages, APIs and admin panels usually respond noticeably faster than from Europe or the US. That difference is easiest to feel in things that make many small requests: dashboards, WooCommerce checkouts, real-time apps and SSH sessions.
Latency is not everything. A CDN such as Cloudflare can serve images, scripts and cached pages close to visitors wherever your server is. But dynamic requests, such as logins, carts, searches and API calls, still go to your server, and that is where a nearby location helps.

India vs Europe vs US: which should you choose?
- Choose India when most visitors are in Nepal or South Asia and you want faster dynamic pages, for example a business website, an online store, a school or college portal, or an API for a Nepali mobile app.
- Choose Europe when you need the most CPU and RAM per rupee, run background jobs or CI, or serve visitors in Europe and the Middle East.
- Choose the US when your users, payment providers or third-party APIs are mostly in North America.
Not sure? Many teams put the main website and database on an India VPS and use a cheaper Europe server for backups, staging or build jobs.
What "unmanaged" means
An unmanaged VPS gives you a clean Linux server and the root password. You install and maintain the software: the web server, PHP or Node.js, databases, SSL certificates, firewall rules and backups. Before you order
- Size RAM first: 4 GB is comfortable for a small WordPress or Laravel site, 8 GB or more for busy stores and apps with a database on the same server.
- Check that your stack runs on standard Linux. If you need custom kernel modules or a specific container setup, ask us first.
- Plan backups from day one. Copy databases and uploads to another server or storage service on a schedule.
- Put Cloudflare or another CDN in front of public websites to cache static files and absorb traffic spikes.
