VPS Price in Nepal (2026): Nepal-Based vs International VPS

RovixCloud Team October 30, 2026 7 min read

Ask five hosting companies what a VPS costs in Nepal and you will get five very different numbers. That is because "VPS" covers everything from a 1 GB test server to a 32 GB production machine, hosted in Kathmandu or on the other side of the world. This guide breaks down what you are actually paying for, so you can compare VPS prices in Nepal fairly.

The short answer

  • Entry VPS (1–2 vCPU, 1–2 GB RAM): roughly रू550–रू1,800 per month, depending on location and storage.
  • Small production server (2 vCPU, 4 GB RAM): roughly रू1,000–रू3,000 per month.
  • Busy apps and databases (4–8 vCPU, 8–16 GB RAM): roughly रू2,000–रू8,000 per month.

Nepal-based VPS plans advertised on Google in October 2026 start at about रू900–रू1,800 per month for entry plans. International servers in Europe or the US usually give you more CPU, RAM and bandwidth for the same money, because hardware and bandwidth cost less in those data centres.

At the time of writing, these are our per-month prices on annual billing, paid in Nepali rupees. All plans are unmanaged Linux servers with full root access, a dedicated IPv4 address and a 1 Gbps port. See the live VPS price list for current figures.

What actually changes the price

  1. RAM. Memory is usually the biggest cost driver. Databases, WordPress with many plugins and Node.js apps are often limited by RAM before CPU.
  2. CPU type and allocation. ARM processors (such as Ampere) are cheaper per core than x86. Ask whether cores are shared or guaranteed.
  3. Storage type. NVMe is much faster than standard SSD for databases and builds, and usually costs a little more per GB.
  4. Bandwidth. Local Nepal plans often include less monthly transfer than international servers. Check the TB allowance, not just "unmetered".
  5. Location. Data-centre space and international bandwidth usually cost more in Nepal, so Nepal-based servers tend to be priced higher for the same specifications.
  6. Management. A managed VPS includes someone else's time for updates, security and backups. An unmanaged VPS is cheaper because you do that work.
  7. Billing term. Annual billing is usually cheaper per month than paying monthly. Compare like with like.

Nepal-based VPS vs international VPS

A server in Kathmandu shortens the network path for visitors in Nepal, which helps when every user is local and latency matters, or when a contract requires data to stay in the country. An international VPS in Europe or the US is usually the better value when your users are global, when you call international APIs, run bots or CI pipelines, or simply need more resources per rupee. Putting your site behind a CDN such as Cloudflare serves static files from locations close to Nepali visitors either way.

How to find the cheapest VPS that still works

  • Start from your workload: a staging server needs far less than a production database.
  • Size RAM first, then CPU, then storage.
  • Check that your software supports ARM before choosing an ARM plan to save money.
  • Compare the total for the billing term, including any setup or control-panel licence costs.
  • Check payment options: paying in NPR with eSewa, Khalti or bank transfer avoids card fees and exchange-rate surprises.
